Because We Could: An Unauthorized Love Story

It is with great pleasure that I announce the publication of my novel.

5.0 out of 5 stars Not only is this book a beautifully written tale of exciting
adventure . . .
By Elizabeth H. Tilley

I did not want this story to end. Not only is this book a beautifully
written tale of exciting adventure, it touches on the complexity of
relationships in a sophisticated and romantic way. Through the telling
of her tale, Marni not only describes her escapades and romances, but
she guides the reader through her journey of self-discovery - a wonderful
combination for a great read. I know nothing of life at sea, and neither
did Marni, but she had the drive to take the risk and learned it all.
Her writing is both subtle and poignant; the strength and beauty of her
characters and their tales is mesmerizing. This book will have you
laughing and crying many times.

5.0 out of 5 starsShe could, she did, and she continued way past the seventies to be Marni, that's why we love

Once you read her, you will want more!
By Helene G. Adams
Format: Kindle Edition
Marni - John and I both started your book one winter morning at the lake with a fire roaring and
birds feeding in the window. We did not stop until the end - delicious day it was. We both loved it!
Congrats... can't wait for your second one.
Well it's not often that I cancel all other activities to finish reading a book in one sitting, but this
was the case with Marni Craig's masterpiece, "Because We Could". Her true story is one of a
high-sea adventure mixed frequently with the get down sexiness of her 'Variety Club' manoeuvres.
The 70's were a special time when caution was thrown to the wind and following one's dream
was the order of the day. The sky was the limit in the 70's and the freedom of those carefree
days would be hard to recapture in our restrictive, regulated society of today. Marni takes us back,
lest we forget.
Marni was and still is a real trooper. A veritable 'Salt & Go for It' bombshell.
She lived it. She loved it and so will you sharing it. Happy reading.
This book is not only a spellbinding account of a great adventure, it’s a trip down memory lane! The author skillfully
contextualized this amazing story in the sights, sounds, smells and politics of the ‘70s and ‘80s, transporting me to a
time I’d started to forget. Finding little pieces of my own history on these pages made for an authentic, intimate read.
I loved how she really ‘owned’ the entire experience – there was no sidestepping of youthful recklessness or pretence
about ‘not inhaling’. This was a great book and I’m waiting for another one!!! Or, the movie!!!

THE BAHAMAS AND THE STORY... WELL WRITTEN AND RESEARCHED....GET A COPY, YOU WON'T BE
DISAPPOINTED !! YOU DON'T HAVE TO BE A SAILOR TO ENJOY !!! GG
Marni and I have been life long friends and I am wowed by the amazing story she has penned of her life through the
70's. Although she related quite a few stories to me by letters or get-togethers when she was back in Canada, it was
so interesting to read of the incredible escapades all put together in this book that we never came close to covering in
our short visits -- close calls with death, challenges with the authorities, the only woman in a man's world etc.
Her knowledge and skills as a mariner have surprised me; she was the king pin that kept the crew going.
The heartbreaks she went through and the truly special loves she experienced kept my emotions fluctuating between
distaste and joy. I loved her "wild side" in the book and her ability to tackle whatever came along in life and love -- that
is so typically "Marni". This is a truly amazing and entertaining book that is an easy read and hard to put down and
appealing to both men and women of all ages. So proud to share yet another gift that Marni possesses.
Engaging and well written.
Marni Craig writes with a wonderful sense of humour as she paints a heartfelt picture of her adventures in love and
sailing. I thoroughly enjoyed the read and often felt like I was right there with Marni as the various triumphs and minor
tragedies of her adventures unfolded. It is a wonderful memoir that provided many a good chuckle, unexpected turns,
richly-written characters, and was sprinkled with some very racy moments (Burton Cummings comes to mind) that
added to the intrigue. Thank you Marni Craig for writing such a highly enjoyable book! I hope it reaches many readers
and inspires a new generation of intrepid sailors.
